We couldn’t possibly pretend to be up to speed with what’s in, hot and/or undiscovered, if we do not keep up with something else that’s constantly evolving:
language. Cool language, fun language, insider slang… you get it.
In other words, in order to get and spread the “Psst!” hype, one needs the adequate tools to communicate it. So here’s the first edition of the “Psst! DEX":
1.
connector - a term used to describe a large percentage of the “Psst!” subscribers. A term borrowed from
”The Tipping Point” by Malcolm Gladwell.
Connectors know a lot of people. They relate to others easily and have a natural gift for making friends and social connections. Connectors spread knowledge either by bringing people together or by connecting people to new information. Therefore, their company is always precious.
2.
L8 - a different way to spell “late”. A product of fun play on letters/numbers combinations invented by the avid internet users, professional chatters, bloggers and forumists, as well as compulsive SMS writers with a penchant for shortening words and seeming smart, all at once. Additional variations:
•
l8tr-later
•
w8-wait
•
h8-hate
3.
metrosexual - the ideal urban man who's a heterosexual but who also understands the importance of being in touch with his feminine side, and who spends a great deal of time and money on his appearance and lifestyle. You might often spot a metrosexual at the nail salon, getting a facial, or describing in detail the humongous difference between a pair of
flat fronted Helmut Langs and
pleated Dockers. Examples of metrosexuals: Johnny Depp, Jude Law, Ewan McGregor, David Beckham, Adrian Mutu, just to name a few.
4.
netizen - a citizen of the internet. YOU are one.
5.
resto - short for “restaurant”; has tremendous potential to attract auditory attention when pronounced.
6.
stuckist - an artist who belongs to
stuckism. You do not necessarily have to have a PhD in Arts to use this word, as long as you know some fun facts about the
movement.
To be continued, preferrably with your help!:) If any of you have ideas and want to add to the Psst! DEX, please write to office@psst.ro
