It usually happens in the morning. In between a few sips of coffee and maybe a cigarette, we spend an extra moment staring at the mirror. It seems as if our skin is part of a worldwide plot against our inner peace, it partners up with the crow’s feet around our orbital bone, and our clogged pores aren’t helping any, either. Yes, we do need some brightening of our day, but the oh-so-disgustingly-shiny T-zone is creeping up in the mirror at the wrong time!
The whole day’s mood is compromised: we admit that we’re ugly, that we’re careless with ourselves, that NOT one person out there notices our beauty… our inner beauty, that is, since it’s covered by this monstruosity of a face. Whatever happened to those days when our charm used to create waves of masculine sighing? How about those heavily rehearsed smiles which used to enslave any Cassanova? What, are we out of tricks to enhance our natural gifts?
Well, I, for one, have got plenty of excuses: no time, no money (and even if I had it, I’d rather spend it on a purse or a pair of shoes, since they last longer), and worst of all… the tips that the magazines give in such great abundance and detail, they hardly ever check out in reality. The good news is… we all can look good. Someone once said: “there is no such thing as an ugly woman, only a lazy one”. Ahem…
The better news is, Dana Argesan, a young L'Oreal makeup artist who’s polished her skills in Paris, has thought of something unique in Bucharest: to lead a crash course in skincare and makeup. The class lasts between 4 to 6 hours during one day and it costs 1,500,000 Lei. Book ahead of time since the waiting list is quite impressive.
Dana starts with basic skincare information, and towards the end of the session, after building on the knowledge you quickly acquire and after actively participating in the course, the looks achieved could overshadow those of the locally worshipped VIP’s. The advanced techniques of aplliyng the skincare and the makeup are carefully and patiently presented, while particular attention is paid to each individual need; thus, each attendee has a chance to voice her concerns, and together with Dana she can come up with the desired look. And to be sure that each attendee gets the required personal attention, Dana limits the group to a total of 4. At the end of the course, you will not only be happy with what you accomplished beauty-wise, but with the sheer quality time spent with such an attractive perfectionist, who’s very often called to assist the red carpet divas at Cannes.
After having completed this course, the last look you take in the elevator mirror will prove to be reassuring; no doubt that all the “psst!”’s and whistles you hear are all meant for you, the one who finally shines through from underneath.
