Maybe Jennifer Lopez is not everyone’s cup of tea, but she certainly was this past Friday’s Sweetheart, once the curtain fell on her debut at New York’s Fashion Week. She was jubilant to be able to tap on her celebrity status in the fashion world, after she’s entered that of fragrance and lingerie, thus managing to come close to stars like Gwen Stefani and P. Diddy. Inspired by Dolce&Gabbana si Dior, JLo created a luxury collection, which many doubt that her theoretical 18-38 segment can afford. She might want to revise her target market and define as “18- 26 girlies who know all the lyrics to her songs”. Once we straightened that out, we wish Jennifer that her clients can dispose of some serious cash for the furs and the diamonds that jeweled a pair of jeans (they were tagged at no less than $2 million).

Among the noteworthy pieces there were oversized cashmere sweaters, flowy satin pants, shawls and capes trimmed with fur, massive hats and accessories, all reminiscent of Jennifer’s “diva with a street edge” style. If only we can find the few streets where we can wear jeans so ridiculously tagged! Equally hard will be to find the store that stocks her pieces, as certain London retailers have refused to carry her collection, due to its heavy fur content (fine, we’ll drop the names: Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Selfridges). Too bad… we were just headed that way…
