A woman chewing on a toothpick. The denim hanging low on a man’s behind, while he clearly carries a lot of attitude in the front, and all around. Flashy accessories, neckerchiefs, horseshoe belts, brown leather straps hanging like fringes. Sexy shapes and forms of the human body emphasized by tightly fit clothing, shrunken jackets, obscenely low waistlines. Christina Aguilerra stripteasing by undressing male models (huh?!?!?!?!). The new Dolce&Gabbana?
Maybe.
That’s what a runway show put together by Dean and Dan Caten looks and sounds like. Who are they? They’re two hot identical twins, Canadian born, with over 10 years of fashion designing experience, now showing their craft in Milan. The Americans are crazy about them and the Europeans lay laurels at their feet. Their fashion is ironic and it mocks today’s stereotypical hiccups.

For Spring/Summer 2006 expect embroideries on suede, a lot of denim, vests that gather contrasting shirts, unbuttoned floral shirts, and leathers with a sheen from wax treatments. For the more advanced hours of the day, the women wear flirty dresses with a 1940 touch of glam, and the men prefer black or white suits, with funky neck ornaments instead of ties, and denim vests.
Can you find DSQUARED here? No, but a trip to Italy, France, Holland or Germany, not to mention the US or Japan would more than solve the problem. Or you can take the pictures to Oana Manolescu or to your favorite tailor and they might be able to make you happy.
