One quick look at the sports newspapers and you don’t have to be a genius to see that football is king here.
No chance you can know from papers that Romania has a National Baseball Championship, that the Romanian team successfully participates in the European championship, and that the commonly held belief is that had we had the money, we could probably hold a top rank in the European competitions.
Here’s one more: did you know there’s also a National Karting Championship? Well, there is, and the pilots do well in international competitions, too.
Next weekend, the 2nd and 3rd of September, you can witness the 6th and last round of the Karting Championship
in Tunari, the AMCKart circuit.
The racing takes place similar to a Formula 1 format. Thus, there are:
- training sessions on Friday and Saturday mornings;
- qualifying races that result in a starting line up for the 1st round on Saturday afternoon;
- the starting line up for last round of the racing, which takes place a 11am on Sunday is decided based on the results of the first round.
The show is going to be nail-biting as four of the national titles are up for grabs. And if your appetite is high for engine action, be there and feel how this sport is taking off. It’s free.
