I never met him, except via the electronic realm of mail and phone. He happened to
come across PSST! and felt compelled to articulate his opinion;
"his opinion" was mostly bad initially, but
it turned out his super-critical tendencies got the better of him (again!), as he actually truly and really liked the website.
So we became virtual friends who had something in common: we both had websites we passionately believed in and wanted everyone else on the planet to feel the same way.
He is Octavian Popescu, the guy behind The Spirit of Romania, a website which shows the world how beautiful our country and our people are.
By befriending him, I discovered a most exciting character: funny, moody, acidic, artsy, communicative, entertaining... and troubled by the current state of things. As broad as this last trait might be, it proved to be an important one, for a few months after becoming acquainted, he took a job offer and left Romania to work abroad. I worried, maybe a tiny fraction of as much as he did, about Spirit (www.spirit.ro), but I'm happy to report that he did a good job at keeping Spirit alive. He is away in a foreign land now, but as I think of him and browse through Spirit, I realize he's someone I want to acknowledge.
So Octavian, the new PSST! "PEOPLE" section is inaugurated with a post on you and your beautiful Spirit, with hopes that you will be back happy and healthy, with loads of inspiration for this and many other projects.
