As the news reports alert us that the Herastrau plethora of terraces will soon be history, there’s hope to be had.

But still… considering all the hope in the world, are you worried that fitze will be out of site?
Worry not!
D’ you want to laze around in the sun while sipping on a frappe and getting a bite to eat while gazing at the lake?
No problem!
Not sure you can show off your car and feel you’ve been robbed of that indescribable pleasure?
Oh, no worries there either!

So where’s the new gathering place?

For those of you who dined at the lovely Provence or hold a gym membership at Tenis Club Bucuresti, the new FRATELLI terrace is a stone throw away (only you wouldn’t be throwing stones around there). And yes, the twins have done it again: Starck influence (read: big-bed-in-the-middle-of-it-all, pompous chandelier centre piece, Lucite chairs), Nippon-esque menu and presentation style, Cuban sounds in the background, wall coverings and dividers showing artsy murals with intertwined calligraphy. Oh, and for the sporty types, you can exercise your fish-catching talents, too.

So that’s what we mean by hope: a grandiose place with the Fratelli stamp of approval. It manages to get absolutely full in the evenings, providing a vista of clothing trends, social skills or lack thereof, fusion menu, wonderful lighting (which is such a rare bird in Romania), and a huge relief to the cars in need for show and parking. So get there; or be left out.
As for watching the news, you might not need any of it, after all.
