This article is about coffee. On one hand, we are a coffee nation and on the other hand, we think we know it all. So you’d think nothing about coffee can impress us at this stage of the game. OK, maybe when the Starbucks license holders finally decide to exercise their right we’ll witness another coffee revolution, but until then… beware of Gloria Jean's Coffees.
Gloria is an entrepreneur from Chicago who understood that, like everything in life, not all coffee beans are created equal. The Arabica coffee beans surpass the Robusta ones by far, and so her mission became to bring us the best coffee there is, together with the culture that surrounds it.
It’s located inside the Plaza Romania Mall, on the first floor. Its subdued decour in peaceful pastel green does not prepare for the energy jolt you’ll get. Nor can you imagine the variety of gourmet flavored coffee that’ll test your decision making abilities: should you have Caramel/Nut Coffee, Brazilian Bahia or Hawaiian Gold?
Whatever you’ll have, you’ll experience 4 levels of coffee excellence: aroma, taste, acidity and body. You will feel like you’ve discovered coffee for the first time, and may we suggest you pair it up with some carrot cake (a US favorite that is slowly gaining ground in Romania, as we sip our coffee).
In case you’re on your way to catch a movie at the Movieplex, you can grab your coffee to go (just be sure to conceal it from the ticket man-turned-food-police), and have your carrot cake in a plastic container. You can savor them while watching the movie, and eat the cake with the coffee stirrer: a glorious experiencenot to be missed, especially if you’re a coffee lover know-it-all.
