The Old Center of Bucharest has been known to be great for antique shopping, art, cobble stone, run down buildings and hang-out places; what’s really cool is that the entire spectrum is covered between old and new, expensive and affordable, young and old.
Its renaissance is in full bloom and if you take a stroll each month, you’re bound to notice something that wasn’t there last week.
So what’s new and happening now in that perimeter?
A lounge-cum-resto called CHARME. If FRATELLI combines Starck style with VIP sightings, this place is less pretentious, bigger, more food-oriented, and manages to pull a concept that’s just as modern and chic. Well, what could you expect from a place just around the corner from MARKET 8…
The terrace built on a deck welcomes you as the colorful CHARME sign winks over Smardan Street. As you walk in you will notice what I think is the biggest bar scene I’ve seen in Bucharest.
What else?
Lots of natural wood tones, leather couches, funky chairs, and fabrics that combine geometric motifs on the two floors of the building. Expect a crowd that flips through the Italian Men's Vogue, drinks Cosmos, listens to Lenny Kravitz, appreciates the Old Center, and… really… that says a lot. The two menus present everything from appetizers to desserts, to coffee, Krug champagne, and cigars.
So rush there this week, savor it and enjoy it, before another place gets the prize for the newest, coolest, trendiest spot in the area.

the waiters are extremely rude when they want
to. they didn\'t care when a couple asked them
to bring the drinks they ordered 20 mins
before, they were just watching the tv
,totally ignoring the customers. the food was
ok, but i will try some other place nearby
the next time, as the offer is pretty
generous on that area of Bucharest
