Let's get this straight: I don't think I'm mistaken when I say that there are only a few people who don't care about fish. Fish is, nowadays, a superstar: all diet conscious culinary recommendations rank it first when it comes to meat. It is a good-for-you vitamin and mineral bomb, and, if you are a man, woman or a mademoiselle who suspects he/she has lost control over the ideal bodily contours, the same fish is your savior.

Fish, as dietary as possible, grilled or steamed in a bath of aromatic herbs- this is what's chic and trendy on slim restaurants' menus.

Well, for the fish lovers and for those who subscribe to the above mentioned principle, then Mama Leone is a temptation that should be resisted. Or, if the contrary is to be considered, then you have to own up to the decadent consequences. Mama Leone ignores the trend and graciously carries its recipes over the seaside on its Neptun/Olimp terrace, thus becoming the universe of fish and its Romanian interpretation.

From Romanian fish ("sturion", "pastruga", "morun") to fillet of snails ("rapane"), to domesticized shrimp from other waters, and all kinds of fish soups and broths (including fish belly broth), the menu is all about artsy and flavourful cooking. Personally, until the Mama Leone encounter I could barely count on the fingers of one hand the number of Romanian fish restaurants.

Mama Leone is innovation, playful cuisine, it is a memory trigger or an innitiation into how fish should be cooked, even if it means that the cook has occasionally inspired himself from other expert nations. It is a temple dedicated to fish in all its forms that make it attractive, irresistible, charming. Just as charming are the waiters, as well as the owner who will not let you sit unnoticed, even if it's your first time eating on his wooden tables and benches.

Thus, if fish ever comes up as a topic of conversation, do not engage in any polemics before paying a visit to Mama Leone!

  1. IMI PLACE PESTELE!

La nebunie chiar! Serios! Parol!
