“All right, everyone, take out a pen and a blank sheet of paper.”
Yes, that was meant to make you get shivers down your spine, for you want nothing to do with school days anymore. But fear not! This is going to brighten your day.
We want you to think about the famous 16% flat tax that’s taken away for taxes (not a happy thought, we know). Then, we also want to let you know that there’s a certain law (Fiscal Code – Law 571/2003, Art.84) which stipulates that 2% of that 16% can be directed by your very good self towards a non-governmental organization of your choice.
You can pick whichever one you prefer, but we’d like to suggest that you consider a very young NGO: The Green Line for Child Protection. The service provides assistance to children who are abused or who encounter difficulties in their environment. The assistance is professional, encompassing psychological and legal counseling. A credible and continuous service, The Green Line for Child Protection previously existed through EC funding. Now it needs your help to continue its 5-year long commitment to protect the young lives of those who can’t protect themselves.
So the good news is that it costs nothing, and it makes you feel wonderful. All you have to do is:
1. fill out a 1-page document (Formular 230)
2. get a 2005 income statement from your employer
3. send both documents to Administratia Financiara by May 15th, with a confirmation of receipt
4. get other friends and family to do the same
5. get a nice seat in Heaven for a gesture which will brighten a child’s life.
Great, now if everything in life could be this easy...
