For some, Easter means getting to wear pastels and enormous hats. For others, Easter brings about the joy of indulging in lamb dishes on one hand, and a time for reflection while fasting, on the other hand. But I have a strange feeling that the happiest clan is the one that involves chocolate in the Easter picture.

And not just any chocolate, but the famous Belgian pralines found in the establishment bearing the Leonidas name. Yes, they are availale in Bucharest, and have been for more than 3 years. The shop is a bright yellow happy place bordering the Old Center; the window display is as inviting as the atmosphere inside. And once faced with a sea of chocolate in pretty packages, you might have to ask for the Lord’s mercy again to help you control yourself.

The staff is extremely helpful and willing to share wonderful stories about the quality of Leonidas‘ products. You’ll find out about the many ingredients and the many destinations they come from, as well as the inspiring success story of a Greek man who lived in the United States, but moved to Belgium for the loves of his life: his wife and his chocolate.

The pralines make up for the majority of the chocolate products and the variety is impressive. One can also be tempted by the six icecream flavors that come in a one-serving cup (*note “Speculos”, a crunchy icecream made with a Belgian golden biscuit), at 130,000 Lei/13 Lei Noi.

Another attraction that the shop happily displays is the level of customer service; not only do they know their merchandize, but they will also remember your taste, go out of their way to bring in fresh shipments, and wrap it all up in exquisite packaging.
It must be the chocolate proximity that elevates the experience to such delicious levels, and you’re invited to try it yourself.
