If you want to live and enjoy the holidays, you better avoid the hellishly busy shopping areas that are sure to work your nerves and make you hate everyone on your list. To your last minute rescue, here’s a winning route.

1. DO go to the newly opened City Mall. It’s not as crazy as the other two malls and the store selection is great. We filled our bags with stunning accessories from the fashionable and affordably luxurious Folli Follie.

2. DO NOT be caught in the crowds at the Unirea Shopping Center. But if you do venture out there, stop by the new shoe paradise, Exquisite. The selection is to die for and includes brands such as Pollini, Fratelli Rossetti, Sergio Rossi and Marc Jacobs.

3. DO shop in the Old Center of Bucharest. Aruna Goa on Smardan Street #30 is waiting for you with treasures brought from India. 4.DO buy books! Divertas are big enough to accommodate all last minute shoppers, but if you do not want to chance it, pick the biggest one at Plaza Romania, but be warned that you’re not allowed to detour, or else... read our intro note! If fiction is what works for your holiday list, you must pick this year’s winner, “The Secret History” by Donna Tartt, a psychological thriller involving college life, ambiguous sexual preferences, and genius brains.
