For those who hunt for unique places on the tiny, winding streets of Bucharest, a little gem like Pravalia cu Delicatese is a big prize. I wish I could claim that I discovered the place, but it was rather the other way around.
I just walked by the windows when a magic hand waved at me to come inside. And the rest is history.
How do you like the fact that, in the heart of Bucharest, but not in-your-face-like, a woman by the name of Maia (if you recall the film Chocolat, the store was named "Chocolaterie Maya") will sell you spicy chocolate or liquor-filled candy like you never tasted before? All that and more, like CD’s with ambiental music, beautiful coffee mugs and all kinds of exotic coffee, expensive wines and fine cheeses. And most importantly, how refreshing that Maia could keep you mesmerized through wonderful conversation, by charming you with sensuous tastes, so much so that you forget how time flies? That’s precisely what happened to me...
Pravalia has a cute little car which runs to any Bucharest address in order to deliver any gift from the afore mentioned ones or from the list that compiles more than 2.000 products. When I used this service and I asked that the gift is delivered for my friend’s birthday, the whole process took place in such a stylish manner, that my friend cried. That’s a reaction that none of her boyfriends can claim they’ve achieved.
In order to get to Pravalia cu Delicatese, you must know that it’s located on Bulevardul Ferdinand 130, but make sure you look for it from Ritmului Street. Reason being that if you do not, you will instead find Antony Funeral Services, which is indeed, quite an experience, also. But I wouldn’t recommend it.
