Go ahead and continue to avoid the Old Center and you're on your own; as in, you can forget about claiming that you know how Buchares vibrates. Come to your senses already and get in touch with the colorful mosaic this area provides: the architecture encompasses neoclassic, baroque and renaissance styles, the international flavors of the merchants still linger and shine through hidden corners of the buildings, and the people who walk the streets complete the full embodiment of the Romanian paradox of poverty and luxury, the new and the rundown, the Orient and the Occident. And if you had an excuse to wrinkle your forehead when the weather was bad, and cringe about messing up your shoes while walking too long on the cobble stone, you can consider that expired now.

Why?

Because the perimeter is now accessible to taxi cab traffic through one entry point at the end of Selari Street.

Why Amsterdam?

Because it continues to be a people magnet and a veteran in its being an integral part of the Historical Center scene. Expect to be drawn to Amsterdam Cafe by exhibitions, networking events, live jazz and DJ performances, and hold on to your hats from the beginning of March onwards. Exciting events are scheduled to celebrate the feminine presence in our lives, as well as entertain the footballer spirits, all in an environment reminiscent of past times come to life again.
Walk those Old Center streets. Or take a cab there. Because you can now. And because there just isn't a better place to feel a touch of old Europe in a Balkan scenery.
